Formula Buckeyes

Aerodynamics / Chassis

On Formula Buckeyes' aerodynamics and chassis crew, I divide my time between simulation and the shop floor. On the simulation side, I co-developed an ANSYS Workbench FEA template with advanced meshing built specifically for our composite layups, including varying weaves and multiple stacked plies, which brought our stress, impact, and failure analyses on the carbon-fiber panel assemblies much closer to what we observed on the test bench. I also run CFD studies in STAR-CCM+ on our 2D airfoil sections to evaluate aerodynamic performance and flow behavior before committing to a shape.

On the fabrication side, I hand-lay carbon fiber and Kevlar using wet and dry layup techniques, and handle mold fitting, painting, and general servicing on the airfoils and chassis flat panels, following a part from its CAD model through cured layup and onto the car. To make our simulation-versus-reality gap easier to track across seasons, I also built a MATLAB tool with a working UI that indexes and interpolates historic wind-tunnel data, allowing us to compare our results against more than 25 other FSAE teams and over 200,000 individual data points at once.

FIRST Tech Challenge: AIM & Launch Robotics

I founded and led two FIRST Tech Challenge teams of more than 30 members combined, where my primary responsibility was training students with no prior CAD or machining experience in prototyping, machining, and mechanical assembly, the same way older students once trained me when I was starting out. Over those years I designed and helped fabricate seven competition-ready robots using OnShape, CNC milling, and laser cutting, running each one through comprehensive mechanical and electrical testing before it reached a competition field.

Five of those seven robots went on to win multiple awards at competitions across New York City, and the training pipeline I established to bring new members up to speed continues to run the program today, well after I moved on to college.

Buckeye Launch Initiative: Liquids Team

Aerostructures Member
Aug 2026–Present

I recently joined the Liquids Team's aerostructures group, where I am building CFD models to simulate how a rocket body accelerates through transonic and hypersonic regimes under variable thrust. I am still early in my time with the team, but I am already developing a new meshing technique for these simulations, along with a more unified rocket-simulation framework that the rest of the group can build on as the program matures.

Alongside my own team, I mentor more than 50 students across several New York City robotics teams, working through the same engineering and leadership challenges I once had to figure out myself, from early CAD concepts to the pressure of getting a robot competition-ready in a matter of weeks.

Founded and run my own barbecue catering business, serving authentic Texas-style barbecue with a Northeastern twist across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey, from slow-smoked brisket, ribs, and barbacoa to full-service catering and custom menus for private gatherings, corporate events, graduations, and food festivals.

Ran the sauté station on a menu of more than 30 dishes, working 40-plus hours a week each summer. The role was a valuable lesson in staying organized and composed under time pressure, and it proved to be solid preparation for competition robotics as well.
